Epiphany of Five Rivers
1995, San Ygnacio, Texas. Epiphany of Five Rivers is a pyro-sculpture performance commissioned by the River Pierce Foundation and was performed on the banks of the Rio Grande in San Ygnacio, Texas. Water was collected from the five main rivers in South Texas and each river had it’s own station complete with banner photographically depicting the collecting of the water. During the performance the water from all five rivers was put into a single vase. A procession went to the edge of the Rio Grande and poured the mixed five rivers into the polluted Rio as a healing gesture. As the water hit the Rio, pyro candles that were in the river exploded.
