Sound Cross
1987, 28’ x 28’ x 4’, Anchorage, Alaska. Sod, plywood and auditory sound system. Site-specific sound piece that was installed on the Park Strip, downtown Anchorage, Alaska. The arms of a cross-shaped plywood form contained earth and sod. When the viewer is in the center of the sculpture a montage of Alaska sounds (Eskimo chants, eagles, bowhead whales) can be heard.
